Laura Coones, Founder
One of the most plugged-in executives in entertainment marketing sales today, Laura Coones’ continues to blaze new trails in the industry. Growing up in a quiet, small hockey town in Ontario, Canada, Laura’s passion for media, design and entertainment marketing quickly drove her to one of Canada’s most respected publishing companies, Brunico Communications where she worked with media trade brands such as ReelScreen, KidScreen and Boards. She later moved to New York City, working as a Producer at Stardust Studios and serving as Business Development Manager for Bill Gates’s privately-owned image licensing company, Corbis. There, she worked directly with advertising agencies and brands to provide corporate, advertising, and media clients access to iconic film, music, celebrities and entertainment content.
Laura later joined PromaxBDA as Director of Sales and Sponsorship, where she single-handedly revamped the international marketing association’s sponsorship and advertising sales division. As part of the organization’s overhaul, she successfully cultivated new, creative marketing opportunities for vendors looking to reach key entertainment marketing executives and influencers. Under Laura’s management, PromaxBDA and the MI6 Game Marketing associations experienced record-breaking revenue growth for both major conferences from 2008 – 2011, despite the recession.
In addition Laura’s other successful ventures include consultation for organizations such as Wizard World’s 2012 North American Comic Con tour, as well as managing business development sales and strategy at The Institute, a commercial and entertainment production company owned by longtime partners, Executive Producer Scott Gardenhour and Hollywood director Michael Bay.
Recognizing her natural talent to connect the dots between creative and business, combined with her vast insider knowledge of the industry, Laura successfully launched Moccasin Management in January 2013.
Laura currently resides in Los Angeles, CA where she enthusiastically embraces her west coast lifestyle, including her passion for fitness. Earlier this year she decided to enter the NPC Muscle Contest in Las Vegas, winning both 2nd and 3rd place in both her Bikini class divisions.
